Renting in Edinburgh
If you want to rent in Edinburgh, you need to apply to the EdIndex Common Housing Register.
EdIndex is a partnership between the Council and 20 Housing Associations and Housing Co-operatives. You only need to fill out one form to be able to apply for a home from all housing providers.
Applying to EdIndex is easy:
- Request an application form by calling our Customer Service Centre on 08451 400 100. You can also pick up a form from any City of Edinburgh Council local neighbourhood office or from any other housing association in Edinburgh.
- Complete the form and post in the pre-paid envelope provided.
- EdIndex will write to you to advise if you have been accepted onto the Register. If so, you will be allocated an EdIndex number, which you should quote when applying for a property.
- Available properties are advertised every week in the Edinburgh Evening News and on the 'EH -Your Key to Choice' website.
